Set Your Foundation Like You Mean It

registerTeacher: Stacey DeGrasse
Price: $30 early registration ($35 within 7 days of workshop)*
Date: Sunday, October 24 from 2:00-4:00pm

In yoga, our poses begin at our foundation – physically and mentally. On a physical level, the way we place our feet and hands determines the alignment of the rest of the body. Misalignment, such as improper placement of our feet, often manifests as pain in the hips or lower back. On a much bigger level, our foundation represents our greater intention for our yoga practice. When we establish the base for our poses it is helpful to ask: Why do I practice yoga? What do I hope to gain from (or offer through) my practice? You can then place your foundation like you mean it and allow your asana to unfold as an expression from the inside out.

In this workshop we will explore (1) the structure and function of the feet and hands, (2) the placement of the feet and hands to support optimal alignment in our poses, and (3) therapeutic tools to enhance stability and mobility of the feet and hands. I invite you to come and learn how to set your foundation like you mean it -- both on and off the mat.

Ready to Blossom: Transforming Your Tight Hips!

registerTeacher: Naomi Gottlieb-Miller
Price: $35 early registration ($40 within 7 days of workshop)*
Date: Sunday, November 21 from 2:00-4:00pm

Tight hips... stiff low back... rigid hamstrings... does this sound all too familiar? As we get older, tight hips can make us feel older than we are, pulling the body inward and putting pressure in particular on the low back. Counter this process and create new patterns, bringing freedom of movement into your legs, and low back with some of your favorite (or soon to be favorite) yoga poses. While you gain new swivel to those hips with specific yoga poses targeting all sides of the pelvis, you’ll create new space physically, as well as energetically in your body. Safely deepen your hip opening practice to sit more comfortably, move with greater agility and become tension-free!

* Regular class passes can not be applied to workshops. Capitol Hill Yoga will refund 100% of workshop cost for students needing to cancel more than 6 days prior, 75% of workshop cost for students canceling 3-6 days prior and 25% of workshop cost for students canceling 1-2 days prior. No refund or studio credit will be issued for students who cancel day of or fail to arrive. To cancel please email yoga@capitolhillyoga.com. CHY may cancel (full refund offered) any workshop due to low registration within 3-6 days of date. We can not offer make-up sessions for workshop series (including Itsy Bitsy Yoga).
