First Class FREE We invite students new to Capitol Hill Yoga to try their 1st yoga class free of charge. First come - first served as space permits. One free class per student. Not valid for Yoga Basics, Tykes or Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga, Family Yoga, or Baby & Me Yoga. Yoga Basics 4-week introduction to yoga Next Series: September 8, 15, 22 and 29 12:30-1:30pm Cost: 4 classes for $44 This series of classes is geared towards students new to yoga - more experienced yogis are welcome to attend to relearn the basics of yoga. Students will learn about the structure of a yoga class, breathing techniques to deepen awareness and relaxation, and basic poses to increase flexibility and strength. After taking this series, students are encouraged to take Level 1 yoga. Register for Yoga Basics Now! Anatomy Yoga Series with Aaron Fleming Date: coming soon 3:30-5:00pm $20 for one or $45 for entire session Shoulders A yoga class to strengthen the upper back and open the shoulders so the chest can be lifted and lightness felt in the heart and mind. Abdominals Often overlooked in a yoga practice, healthy strong abdominal muscles can relieve tension in the low back as well as trim inches off your waist line! This class will focus on strengthening and lengthening the abdominal muscles. Hamstrings The hamstrings tend to be overworked particularly for runners and walkers. This yoga class will provide a variety of poses to relieve this area of the body. The Barnes Method YOGA FOR TWO Teacher Training: Yoga for Pregnancy I & II, and Yoga for Childbirth with Mary Barnes, RYT 500, Anusara Affiliated Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 10:00am-6:00pm Monday, 10:00am-1:00pm 30-hour The Barnes Method Prenatal Training: The training will cover the curriculum of Yoga for Pregnancy I & II and Yoga for Childbirth (see curriculum details below). The Training will include hands-on work with pregnant women; observing/assisting a Yoga for Pregnancy class; sequencing a prenatal class; and, observing a Couple's Yoga for Childbirth Workshop. Read more about YOGA FOR TWO and Mary Barnes Couples Yoga Workshop for Labor and Delivery with Marianna Adams, RYT and Reya Mellicker, CMT Date & Time: Saturday, August 25, 3:30-5:30pm Cost: $75/couple This workshop, based on the Barnes Method, is an opportunity for women and their partners or doulas to practice yoga poses and breathing techniques that many women have found helpful during labor and delivery. In addition, partners will learn how to guide mothers in their relaxation between contractions, as well as some massage and acupressure techniques. Recommended for those in the third trimester of pregnancy but not required. Register for the Couples Yoga Workshop for Labor & Delivery MEDITATION OPPORTUNITIES with The Capitol Hill Mindfulness Community Every Monday, 7:00-7:30am and Friday, 7:00-7:30am held at Capitol Hill Yoga, Ltd. The practice, facilitated by the Capitol Hill Mindfulness Community (a nonsectarian meditation group) uses sitting & walking techniques while the focus is kept on the incoming and outgoing breath and being in the present moment (known as mindfulness).
