CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Yoga Basics - 4 week intro to yoga series
This series of classes is geared towards students new to yoga- more experienced yogis are welcome to attend to relearn the basics of yoga. Students will learn about the structure of a yoga class, breathing techniques to deepen awareness and relaxation, and basic poses to increase flexibility and strength. After taking this series, students are encouraged to take Level 1 yoga.

Level 1
Learn the fundamentals of basic postures and yogic breathing. Class begins on the floor with a centering and is marked by a soft flowing style. Special attention is paid to easing into postures and finding proper alignment. Class ends with a final, deep relaxation.

Level 1-2
A moderately-paced class that focuses on proper alignment and blending breath with movement. Previous yoga experience is required.

Level 2
For those wishing to deepen their practice. Using a flowing style, emphasis will be on moving into backbends, arm balances, and inversions. Deeper versions of poses will be offered for more advanced practitioners. Recommended for students with at least 6 month previous yoga training.

Family Yoga (for ages 5-12 and a parent), Sunday, May 18 3:30-4:15pm
A fun and free spirited class giving parents and children an opportunity to playfully explore yoga together!  Improve your body and mind with a fun approach to breathing and movement.  Increase strength, flexibility, coordination and posture.  Learn fun partner poses, breath techniques, explore with games, songs and stories. The bond that occurs in this class between parents and children is truly special and a gift you give to each other.

Flow Yoga
Flow Yoga links poses together in a fluid style with a focus on alignment to create maximum benefit and ease in each posture. The class provides a well-balanced practice of standing and seated postures, breathing, and meditation. Variations will be provided for students of various levels and abilities.

Gentle/Restorative Yoga
Suitable for any level student wanting to unwind quietly in the middle of the work week, beginners, and students with some restricted movement or minor health conditions (with doctor's approval). Incorporating the Anusara principles of alignment, this class will focus on mindful stretching, breathing techniques, and use of props to allow us to release, relax, and gently bring ourselves into alignment with our true nature.

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini yoga includes a vigorous workout that differs each week, and ends with a meditation that also differs each week. Through rapid movements, deep stretching, challenging poses, working with sound vibrations, healing breathwork and deep meditation, we will rejuvenate the body's systems, mind and spirit.  Students will leave class feeling peaceful and prosperous, ready to take on life's challenges.  Class is open to all levels - beginners and experienced students.

Pilates
Pilates class is a dynamic mind-body conditioning class based on the work of the late Joseph H. Pilates. This workout will tone and firm, stretch and strengthen the entire body. It focuses on engaging the core muscles - the Powerhouse - through a series of exercises done in a flowing sequence. Pilates is suitable for all fitness levels.

Prenatal Yoga
A gentle, safe, and supportive class in which the classic yoga postures are modified for the changing needs of the expectant mother. Focus is on developing strength, flexibility, proper breathing, and an inner peace as preparation for birth and motherhood.
