Community Giving

Capitol Hill Yoga features a charitable giving opportunity each quarter. The program’s mission is to draw attention to the cause and to further the education and enrichment of our community locally and globally.

CHY is pleased to announce the 2012 Community Giving Program: Capitol Hill Connections. Capitol Hill Yoga is very proud to be a part of community on the Hill. As such, the 2012 program will feature organizations that are located blocks away, thereby directly impacting our immediate neighborhood. The program will highlight four organizations throughout the year, each for a three-month period.

January-March 2012: Capitol Hill Group Ministry

Capitol Hill Group Ministry

Capitol Hill Group Ministry (CHGM) has been celebrating community service since 1967. CHGM is an interfaith coalition of congregations and concerned individuals united to serve the spiritual and social needs of the Capitol Hill Community, Ward 6 and beyond. CHGM serves both low-income households – individuals, seniors, and families – and homeless families from across the District of Columbia. The CHGM mission is to engage neighbors, congregations and organizations in community to celebrate shared commitment to social justice. They seek to put faith into action to empower and provide hope for families and individuals who are homeless or in crisis that they may lead healthy, fulfilling and productive lives. Their programs include shelter services for homeless families, social services such as emergency assistance, and community initiatives such as distributing holiday meals and gifts.

2 Ways to Give:

1. CHY will donate 25% of proceeds from our monthly “Turn On, Tune In, Bliss Out” workshops to our community giving feature. Our restorative workshop is open to students of all ages and abilities.

2. The community jar is open in the lobby to accept monetary donations for our community giving feature. Live your yoga on and off the mat!

TOP FIVE REASONS for dropping a donation in the studio jar:

  1. A small gift reminds you of your place in the greater whole
  2. You just had an amazing class and feel grateful
  3. You feel fortunate and know other people are having a harder time right now
  4. You enjoyed a nice cup of tea in the studio
  5. You like that we don't charge to borrow a yoga mat
